JAM ANTIK C0107
This antique clock was made by Japy Freres in France around 1860-1875. It is a figural clock with a seated mythical female figure representing human endeavor and industry. Note the hammer, gear wheels, even a steam train. Steam trains being “Hi-Tech” when this clock was made. The movement is contained in a round horizontal tube representing a drum. This high quality clock is of gilded brass mounted on a painted wooden base. The base is original to the clock although when it started life it may have been gilded like the clock. The clock case is in generally good condition commensurate with its age although it has some minor issues. Firstly there are some marks on the white porcelain face and secondly the gilding on a few parts of the clock have been repaired because of wear. Both issues however are minor and can only be spotted when closely examined. The 8 day movement has been fully restored and has new mainsprings fitted. It strikes the hour and half hour on a bell.
