This clock was made in France about 1880-1890. It is made of traditional black Belgian marble, although it has some front adornments of striated pink marble. The dial is white enameled with a gilded border. Case is generally in good condition. It has been refinished recently. The movement is made by Japy Freres a famous French clockmaker of the 19th century. It is in very good condition having been fully restored with new mainsprings fitted. It strikes the hour and half hour on a bell.
